My first attempt at a high-low poly modeling workflow with PBR texturing. The goal of this project was to familiarize myself with both ZBrush and Substance Painter in a video game prop production pipeline. I learned a ton and will apply my new knowledge to my next projects.
The model is based off the Sony TC-D5 Pro II Cassette Player. I followed a standard game prop production workflow. First, I gathered as many references as I felt appropriate. Next, I blocked out the cassette player to get a better sense of scale within my scene. Then I created a mid poly model, which I then exported to ZBrush in order to create my high poly version. I polished some edges and then did some boolean operations which were difficult to do in Maya. Afterwards, I exported the high poly version back to Maya and created my low poly version, where I created UV's and baked my maps in Substance Painter. When I finished texturing, I set up my maps and model in Marmoset Toolbag 4, where I rendered my final images.
